What is AMERICA NEEDS COMMON SENSE

From ANCS

AmericaNeedsCommonSense is a nonprofit organization dedicated to re-inventing constitutional governance in America by using a computer program for citizens to directly interact with other citizens who want to represent themselves and constructively find solutions to issues we can all agree on.

We do this by using a program invented by Ward Cunningham. He called it a WIKI which became the operating system of Wikipedia, a subsidiary of Wikimedia Commons. It is the first program that allows for collaborative discourse, polling, and voting. We are using this Wiki to become the central database for all Americans to come together to solve problems and work together.

AmericaNeedsCommonSense.org (ANCS) will become a network for promoting self-representation. We must have power in balance to achieve fairness. Diversity is essential. We need thinkers, organizers, legislators, problem solvers.

We need to start voting on issues. We need to vote on issues because voting for candidates is just not working as intended.

America Needs Common Sense (ANCS) is dedicated to all Americans who want to:

Help America to become happier, safer, and more prosperous.

Personally influence policy to make things better.

Investigate issues to get accurate facts.

Help people who have been subjected to abuse of power, reach out to get help.

Help make America more fair.

Share civic solutions and knowledge of civic matters with others. Vote on issues that matter.

Participate in improving America in every way possible.

Restore Freedoms

Supercharge Self-Representation

Interact with government and business.

Observe and balance those forces that affect us.

We have several fundamental problems that must be overcome in our modern society.

1. imbalance of power.

2. The way we (Collectively) process information.

3. The way we prioritize efforts.

4. How we learn from our mistakes.

5. The way we solve our problems.

There is a significant imbalance in power. That imbalance exists between “We the People” and the people in power. The “people in power” are people from both the private and public sectors, who have reached high levels of influence and power, that affect us.

The general interest and special interest must balance to achieve the best outcome.

Unfortunately, the people in power only seem, mainly, to hear from wealthy and/or powerful people.

People who need power, rarely are good at solving problems or designing optimized systems.

As long as we are respectful and deliberative, the people in power will welcome our input. That is because the information we give them from our internal polling and voting data will make them more “sure-footed”. Because of the process that ANCS created, there is no limit on the number of citizens that can participate in developing a page, to achieve, 80% support. The elected representatives will then know what policy satisfies the public interest. We hope to have the clearest data ever on civic needs and desires.

How will America Needs Common Sense do this?

Not everything is worked out yet. The “Nuts and Bolts” details will be worked out by the entire community involved in this movement.

We have identified the major components. ANCS is likely to be a 6 step process.

#1 The first step is for someone to state a grievance that is personally affecting them or someone they know.

#2 The next step is to hear and document all the facts from all sides. These facts must be provable facts and not opinions.

#3 The next step is to publish a well-written page covering all aspects of the issue.

#4 The next step is collaborating to find a solution. A solution means devising the best possible outcome to address the grievance. The solution might involve creating, changing, or removing a regulation, policy, or law. There may be many proposals. These proposals need to be promoted for merit, by voting, and get the best aspects of the solutions merged. We have voting and polling tools that will be used where needed. All questions asked must be simple and clear. Ideally, we get a consensus on the best fix for this hypothetical grievance. We will concentrate our efforts on those issues that have the widest support. The tools for collaboration and voting are in this wiki.

#5 The next step is to petition the authorities with our results. Hopefully, they will recognize that the results of our work are beneficial and well thought out. Most importantly, we hope that the authorities will take immediate action to make it so.

#6 The final step is to publicize the impact of all reform influenced by ANCS. We will simplify the process of building factually informed support for more issues.
