<p>KG: This was the beginning idea for a page.</p> <hr /> <div>I was watching an episode of Abbott Elementary and one of the members of the PTA wanted to ban a book from the school library. She had no real knowledge of the book, just a feeling that it taught children to not respect their elders. She had never read the book. She made a big enough stink that the book was temporarily banned. Since this is a &quot;sitcom&quot; on TV, by the end of the show rationality had prevailed and the book was not banned.<br /> <br /> This reminded me of the rash of book banning that has taken place, mainly in the more conservative states.<br /> <br /> One of the first things Hitler did when he came in to power was to ban and burn books.<br /> <br /> When I was growing up, the highlight of my week was a visit to the library. My parents never told me I could not take out a certain book. They always looked at what I was borrowing, but that was all. <br /> <br /> This is a test/starter page. I'm not sure where I want to go from here.</div>
